Data Journalism

Data journalism is a relatively new discipline within journalism. Briefly, it is a specialty reflecting the increased role that numerical data has taken in the production and distribution of information in the digital era. It reflects the increased interaction between content producers and/ or journalists and several other fields such as design, computer science and statistics.

Data is also an essential part of financial, economic and/or business journalism. The ability to interpret and analyze data, particular economic, and to write about how macro and micro events impact on an economy, is crucial. For example, should the impact on inflation be interpreted over one or four quarters and what is their relevance?
